Anonymity, once a notable feature of cyberspace, is now threatened by technology and politics of surveillance. We are now entering the post-anonymity era of cyberspace, where our personal information can be easily exploited by other people or institutions. We always think of interactivity of the Internet as beneficial to us. We must be aware, however, that electronic interactive communication can be sometimes very dangerous because governmental agencies or businesses can easily collect our personal information through such interactivity. Most of our personal information is in a sense not personal. It is shared and supported by friends, families and many other communities around us. We need an equivalent of such layered network in the cyberspace to protect our personal information in the era of post-anonymity.
