Three Known species of the genus Antonia, the family Coccidae of Japan are as follow:1. Antonia indica GREEN. 1908, Antonia indica GREEN; Mem. Dep . Agr. INdia., Ent. Ser.Vol, ii (2), p.27. This species was found by the author on the base of the stem of Imperata aundinacea in Yayeyama, Ryuchu Islands,June 14, 1928. This is the first time it on grass in Formosa. 2. Antonia crawi COCKERELI,. 1900. Antoniacrawi Ckll.; Psyche Vol, ix, p.71. This species was found by the writer and others at the sheathing base of leaves of different kinds of bamboo in Japan proper and Formosa 3. Antonia tobai KUWANA sp. nov. Usually found beneath the ieaf-sheaths of the host plant . and partly covered with white cottony matter. Dark brown in color; elongate in form with anterior end round, gradually narrowing towards posterior end. Antennae short, conical in form with several short spiny hairs. Month-parts small, well chitinzed. Spiracles well Chitinized but small. Segmaentation distinct, margina of last five abdominal segments much produced and forming lobes as shown in the figures. Anal ring not well formed, with 6 fine hairs. Derm with usual round pores. Length 3.6-6mm., width2-2.9mm. Habitat: On Pleioblastus nebulosa, Iwate-ken . Named after Mr. G. TOBA of Iwate Normal Svhool, Morioka City, who kindly sent the material to the author.(Jan. 25. 1932.)
