This paper aims at pointing out which elements in the first works of Antonin Raymond in Tokyo are to be linked with cubist architecture, a specific form of architecture that took its roots in his native Czech countries at the beginning of the 1910's. In order to have the proper elements to drive a comparison between the Czech cubist production and the A. Raymond's one, it is necessary to explain how that movement developed itself and what were exactly its goals when he grew up as a reaction against the Viennese rationalistic domination. The Viennese's reference, long undervalued in studies devoted to Czech Cubism as well as those on A. Raymond, appears to be as important as the Cubist one for understanding the Architect's mindset.
