This study is on the concept of mimesis or imitation in the tradition of the architecture of classicism, through a critique of the text of Daniel PAYOT, Le philosophe et Varchitecte (1982). The architectural origin is neither object or idea, as Payot reveals this fact through his critique of the concepts of nature and primitive hut in the classical tradition, nor action of production which is regarded as the origin by him. If the question on mimesis is that of going back towards the origin, the model to imitate or the nature, the nature or the type in architecture can be seized in the movement of going back of meanings. The real architecture and city have imitated the nature in the involution of the movement going back to the origin, and the architecture of the ancient or the past indirectly, or they are some typological products sedimented in the referential structure.
