Rousham Gardens are one of the most important gardens William Kent (1685-1748) created. He redesigned the garden in 1730's based on an earlier design by Charles Bridgeman, executed around 1720. This paper intends to shed light on the spatial composition of Rousham gardens created by William Kent through the comparison with the original gardens designed by Charles Bridgeman (1680-1738). The whole gardens are composed of some areas respectively, which can be divided into path and place roughly. The spatial composition was analyzed as the composition of the areas and relationship between the areas. As a result, it is clearly observed that, the areas by Bridgeman were made geometrically and the spatial composition of the garden was based on some axes abstracted from the landform, which connect dotted places. Kent made continuity between these divided areas along the contour and the slope, and overlapped them in his garden.
