Farm ponds are important in upland irrigation canal systems. The hourly variation patterns of upland field irrigation water volume within a whole day were clarified about various upland field districts supplied by farm ponds. It was recognized various patterns, e. g. a triangule type or a trapezoid type etc. The estimation methods of reasonable volume of farm ponds were examined by these various patterns. The volumes of farm ponds are commonly about 20 cubic meter per hectare in upland field irrigation districts of Japan. But, it was proved that the farm ponds should be constructed larger volume in the districts mainly composed of green-houses, and seemed to be reduced in the districts mainly composed of common upland fields.
