This paper reports, the analysis of the pressure transfer characteristics of an inner vent and the characteristics of fuel flow rate in main nozzle having an adjustable main jet, in an inner vent type simple carburetor. The air vent has a role of transfering the pressure from the intake horn to the float chamber. The equations of the pressure transfer in the air vent were introduced to analyze the following two kinds of characteristics (A) and (B). The agreement between experiments and calculations was confirmed in both cases. (A) As for the frequency response characteristics of the air vent, the pressure amplitude of the chamber brought by sinusoidal pressure generator through the air vent was measured, and the frequency responses of the transfer pressure ratio and the phase differences were obtained from the cross spectrum density functions. These experimental results were coincided with the results introduced from the calculations by the Newton-Raphson method. (B) The float chamber pressure was calculated by the Runge-Kutta method from the real complicated pressure wave of the pulsating intake air. The choke part in the main nozzle is the main jet. The needle jet orifice used as an adjustable main jet in a simple carburetor was replaced by the parallel annular tube, and the equations of the flow were introduced. The pulsating fuel flow rates were obtained with the calculation by the Runge-Kutta method from the boundary condition of the float chamber pressure and the venturi pressure. Additionally, the speed pictures of the flow discharging from the main nozzle, including the phenomena of the Taft method in fuel flow, were taken, and they showed the correctness of the calculation of pressure pulsation.
