Homotopy theory has been applied to the problem of ring defects in ordered media. For example, to the classification of point defects in 3-dimensional ordered media, the homotopy group π_2(X) is essential, where X is an order parameter space. For ring defects, the group π_2(X), which is the homotopy set of mappings from R^3\{unknotted ring} to X[1], developed in Nakanishi et al. [3], is essential. In this note, we consider a higher dimensional version of τ_2(X) and apply it to the prblem of creation-annihilation of defects in ordered media.
