Determination of metallic iron ores and cutting iron powder had been difficult by the usual method of chemical analysis. For the purpose of estimating metallic iron in reduced iron ore by a chemical method, an investigation was made on the problems of stractual analysis of many reduced iron ores and cutting iron powder by the use of x-ray diffractmeter, the reaction of alchol and bromine by the use of Infrared spectrometer and chemical analysis, and the method of selective dissolution of metallic iron. Brome-methanol, Brome-ethanol and the mixture of Brome-methanol and Acetone as the solvent were compared with each other. The mixture of Brome methanol and Acetone was found most suitable. The amounts on metallic iron in various samples of reduced iron ore were determined. The results were in good agreement with those of the x-ray diffraction analysis.
