• 多くの研究の結果英語を母国語とする人達の英語の語彙の使用法に関する意見が異なることが証明された。別の研究は形容詞と動詞の使用法と共に使用できるコロケーションと使用できないコロケーションについて行われた。この論文では,28のコロケーションと共にrepair, mend, fix, remodel, renewの同義語が使えるかという調査を日本の大学で学ぶ日本人学生5人と中国人学生5人に対して行った。この研究は以前行ったアメリカ,カナダ,ニュージーランド,オーストラリア出身の英語を母国語とする10人に対する研究の結果と比較するために行った。
