In the Summa Theologiae, I-II, q.19, Thomas Aquinas discusses good and evil in the interior voluntary act. According to Thomas, man's will is moved by the object, which his intellect presents to it. He therefore considers the interior voluntary act from two points of view. (1) the operation of the intellect (a.1〜a.6) (2) the operation of the will (a.7〜a.10) In this paper, an attempt is made to clarify, why in the interior voluntary act a distinction is made between a good and an evil act. The conclusion is as follows. Seen from one point of view, the interior voluntary act is good when man's reason is conformed to God's reason, but the act is evil in all other cases. Therefore the source of good or evil in the act is the conformity between Man's reason and God's reason. Seen from another point of view, the interior voluntary act is good when man's will is conformed to God's will, but the act is evil in all other cases. Therefore the source of good or evil in the act is the conformity between Man's will and God's will.
