In present, the elderly lifestyle and consideration have changed greatly in a Japanese society that advances by a rapid aging. According to the latest statistical research, it is 47.1 % that cohabitation rate of children and elderly of 65 years or more. When seeing according to the partner relation, the cohabitation of married children and the elderly is 26.1 %, and the cohabitation of children not married and the elderly is 20.9% (National Livelihood Survey, 2002). In addition, the cohabitation rate with children not married exceeds the cohabitation rate with married children for the elderly of 60-64 years. Furthermore, cohabitation with single children keeps the numerical value of 20% or less for the elderly of 65 years or more. Thus, cohabitation with children not married to the elderly exists still as a resident status with one feature. And, it can be said that the image of the future of the family of the combination of children who that are high the elderly and the age and not married is a long-term examination problem including the nursing problem concerning parents that to what one grow old. Then, the relation between cohabiting children not married and the elderly is analyzed, and examined by using the data of the investigation executed for the elderly of 60 years or more of the Tokorozawa City living in February in January, 2004 in this text.
