This paper considers the ironical and paradoxical mechanism of history built by the mutual replacement between reason and insanity. As the concrete example, we take up John Law, a famous Scotch financial theorist, who appeared in Paris under the Regency time just after the death of Louis XIV in order to decrease a large amount of the negative inheritance of this King of Sun. Escaped convict, incomparable Gambling-Hero, economic charlatan and responsible to the finance of France from 1719 to 1720, John Law founded the General Bank and managed the "Compagnie des Indes". And he increased bank notes, pressed the circulation of species, reduced the national bond and pushed up his company stock, so that he directed the bubble economy. These various speculative economical expansion policies, so-called Law-System, ruined finally the national finance of France and he was obliged to be missed his foot. This signifies that the policy which is the national representation of reason created crazy reality. For the big band of robbers baptized "Cartousians" (Cartouche partisans) we discussed in the previous number of our journal, such insanity became a suitable target. In fact, Quincampoix Street on the right bank of the Seine, where was Law's Bank, inflamed the insanity of speculators and brought the Cartousians great harvest. Historical irony and paradox, in which the crimes directed by public insanity deprived another insanity of the national reason, can be found clearly there.
