In recent years incorporating volunteer education, service learning and internship into the university curriculum has received attention and the general awareness of the importance of learning and experiencing in the actual society have gradually boosted. Although they are built into university curriculum, contents of the curriculum and the way of conducting the lecture would differ greatly in the results of achievement in students. Especially in those universities which provide technical education, on-site training program such as volunteer activity not only provides the students the opportunity to learn in the actual situation but also affects their learning and growth as a person and more over, it can be an element which would develop the identity as professionals. Therefore it is important to think about how volunteer education can be incorporated into the university curriculum. YPU as a welfare professional training institution also provides the opportunity on-field learning. It includes (1)field learning which is incorporated in the instruction given in advance of the practical training, (2)that which is located as a volunteer related course work and (3)that which is located as the in-advance instruction for the professional social welfare practical training. In our recent efforts, the environment for information supplement has been improved so that volunteer work as a field learning which is acted upon students' own initiative as well as the volunteer work provided through the curriculum can be done more easily. In this study, we closely look at the foregoing practice at the department of social welfare of YPU and try to examine the volunteer education as a on-site learning at a university which is the welfare professional training institution with the aim of searching for the better education which fosters students' deeper learning and development of their professionalism.
