• In this study, we have for the first time realized the passive mode locking of a Er, Ce co-doped fluoride fiber laser with a semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror (SAM). When a 25 cm-long Er, Ce co-doped fluoride fiber was used as an active medium, the mode-locked pulses with a repetition rate of 400 MHz with an output power of about 10 mW was obtained.
