The slit spectra of four coronal lines(NiXIII λ5116,・FeXIV λ5303, FeX λ6374, and NiXV λ6702), obtained during the eclipse of 7 March 1970 in Mexico, have been analysed. According to the ionization theory, the electron temperatures were computed as a function of distance along the slit from the intensity ratios, I5303/I6374 and I6702/I5116.It is found that the temperatures derived from nickel ions are systematically higher by3×105 K than those from iron ions, and that the temperatures show fine scale fluctuations. This is the clear evidence for the temperature inhomogeneity in the inner corona. It is shown that the observed intensities can reasonably be interpreted by an inhomogeneous model consisting of two components, that is, the ray-like structure having higher electron density and higher temperature (Ne=1×109; Te=2.3×106), and the inter-ray region having lower density and lower temperature(Ne=1×108; Te=1.5×106). The ratio of the total pass length of the rays against that of the inter-ray region in the line of sight amounts to 80 per cents in the helmet streamer and 10 per cents or less in the inter-helmet region.
