In Fukuji, Gifu Prefecture, Kueichouphyllum sinense Yu, Heterocaninia concentrica Yu, Palaeosmilia murchisoni M.-EDWARDS et HAIME, Koninckophyllum interruptum THOM-son et NICHOLSON and Yuanophyllum spp. are obtained from the lowermost Ichinotani Formation (Eostaffella Zone) which is correlated with the Upper Visean or the Uppermost Dinantian. This coral assemblage is called the Onimaru type, which is widely distributed in Japan from Kyushu to Honshu. Particularly, the morphology, geological range and distribution of genus Kueichou-phyllum are described in detail, for it is very important on the paleobiogeography of the Tethys area among these large simple rugose corals. The paleobiogeography of genus Heterocaninia and genus Yuanophyllum as very endemic corals of the eastern Tethys are also given.
