• Fossiliferous limestone blocks from the Takagami Conglomerate (late Permian) in Choshi, central Japan are examined on the basis of 57 thin sections. Fossils of calcareous algae are unexpectedly abundant and 39 species distributed in 6 families and 17 genera are described. Seven species are described as new species.
