Polypropylene is clinically applied for glaucoma implant devices because of chemical resistance, weatherproof and mechanical properties. However, the affinity of this material is low for the tissue. Furthermore the problem is pointed out that protein and fat are stuck into the aqueous humor drain. In this study, hydrophobic groups were substituted onto aqueous humor drain, and hydrophilic groups were replaced onto peripheral part with Xe_2 excimer lamp irradiation. As a result, polypropylene was selectively modified to be hydrophobic or hydrophilic.
