It is shown that the Sobolev norm and de Branges norm are equivalent for a closed differential operator with a domain, Sobolev space. The contractions corresponding to momentum and energy operator will be found. Moreover a simple proof of the spectral decomposition theorem for unbounded self-adjoint operator is given by using a Kaufman's theorem. As a result, it is found that the relation between spectrum of a self-adjoint operator and that of a corresponding pure contraction.
