Main parts of this report consisted of the quoted texts from the refferences. I think that the fuel problems in Asian countries were not popularly known yet for other countries and it was worth to review them. However, it is very difficult to introduce fuel situations and fuel policies of foreign countries. Then I quoted the original paper and try to minimize the modification to maintain the faithfulness of the original meaning. I will apreicate to have the parmissions from the original authors for these quotations. The official report of this symposium (JPEC-2002IP-03) was published from JPEC and IPEC is already starting the preparation of the 2nd Asian Petroleum Technology Symposium. A candidate of the symposium place is Thailand. Among the Asian countries, there are many diffences in fuel policy. These differnces were coming from the fuel resources. Both of fossil fuel resources and oil refinery plant are the key factors of the goverment policy of fuel. However, many countries have the same intensity to keep the clean air environment, even if the levels of emission regulations and fuel quality are differnt. We need more co-operation work to improve the fuel quality and to introduce more advanced emission regulatons. The symposium was closed successfully with the word "Help Together".
