Supercritical water gasification of the pig urine which was employed as a model of stockbreeding waste was studied. Reaction temperatures ranged from 673 to 873 K and pressures ranged from 21 to 25 MPa. Activated carbon particles were filled in the reactor as a catalyst. The effect of reaction temperature, pressure, residence time, and the reactant concentration on the reaction characteristics such as gas formation and total organic carbon content were studied. As a result, activated carbon promoted the gasification of the pig urine, and under the conditions of 873 K, 25 MPa, 60 s of residence time, and 10.6 g of activated carbon addition, the pig urine was almost completely gasified and the gas mixture with a high hydrogen content (45.5 vol %) was obtained. Under the conditions of this study, the increase of reaction temperature, pressure, and residence time resulted in the enhancement of both the gas yield and the carbon gasification efficiency.
