Current assessments of conventional gas resources conducted by USGS or JPDA show that the world gas reserves and R/P year remain unchanged but resource-base R/P year, including undiscovered resources, are 1.5 times increased from previous assessment. This is 109 to 160 years which may indicate life of conventional gas. Asian-pacific is on the same trend except Russian region where both reserves and resources was reviewed by USGS who reduce its numbers. Discrepancy of resource definition between SPE/WPC/AAPG and Russians are currently well presented. Even by taking the discrepancy into account, more resources could exists in Russia, as ten times larger undiscovered resources are reported by Russian research institutes. Third party reserves audit, who knows both definitions well, is getting more important to valuate Russian assets for the sake of Joint Venture business.
