• Wind power generation has become very popular in Japan. The total wind power capacity is recorded around 460 MW in June 2003. Recent national R&D programs on wind turbine technology have been closed with successful results. On the other hand, Typhoon 14th attacked Miyako Island in September 2003 and most of the wind turbines were severely destroyed. We are facing to a crucial moment how to develop the true wind turbine technology that is really suitable for Japanese severe external conditions.
