Since recent advances in information theory have shown that the use of multiple nodes to simultaneously relay messages can further improve the capacity of source-to-destination communication, relay networks are receiving more attentions as one of promising coverage extension techniques. Based on this network, many researches have been conducted on a half duplex approach. Unfortunately, it requires two time slots to send each message from source to destination node, imposing a limitation on the capacity. To achieve a higher capacity, we introduce the "Spatial Division Duplex" approach. The multiple relay nodes are divided into two groups alternatively receive and transmit messages : while one group is receiving messages from the source node, the other is transmitting messages to the destination node. A difficulty of applying the Spatial Division Duplex approach is that when the interference among relays is strong, the capacity will be greatly degraded. To mitigate the effect of the interference among relays, we propose a relaying scheme that cancels the interference between relays by employing the signals previously received at destination node. Numerical results confirm that our method outperforms the conventional schemes that use the half duplex approach especially when the relays are near the destination node.
