We are confronted with the worse of the environment as the result of mass fossil energy. Therefore, it is necessary to analyse the energy use of food system from LCA point of view. Two processes of home cooking and eating, and disposal of leftovers and excreta must be included in it. For the calculation of energy, direct energy and indirect energy must be summed up. Direct energy contains direct fuel use and electricity consumption. Indirect energy contains energy inputted for the manufacture of power machine and materials. The essential report used for calculation is Input-Output Tables. The total of energy inputted to food system has increased 5 times for thirty years (148 billion kcal in 1960 and 711 billion kcal in 1990). The energy input for restaurant and the disposal of leftovers and excreta increased remarkably. The former is from 4 billion to 84 billion, the latter is from 0.1 billion to 26 billion. The nutrition energy cost in Japan food system has increased remarkably from 1.8 to 5.5. The main reason for this is that rice of low cost (2) has consumed to halves.
