The underlying idea of the CIP method provides a general concept that one can make use of more than one model variables, so called "moments", for a contain physical field in constructing numerical approximations. Different from those used in the conventional discretizations, such as the finite difference method or the finite volume method, a multi moment interpolation gives some new numerical properties in the accuracy of numerical approximations. Furthermore, treating multi moments as the model variables substantially improves numerical dispersions for wave equations. Some related topics are presented in this talk.
