A substance enhancing the liver cell respiration was produced when the fresh bovine blood frozen at -20℃ for 5 days was melted at the room temperature. We examined the conditions to extract the substance and its properties; and the following results were obtained: 1) The effect of enhancing the cell respiration was the most outstanding in the sample extracted at pH7.0, and the amount of cell respiration per an hour in culture was found to be 3.6 times of that of endogenous respiration with the Warburg manometric measurement. 2) In the tissue culture of a chick embryo, the effect of the cell proliferation was also most outstanding in the sample extracted with pH7.0, whose concentration was 5.0μg/ml. This effect was about 210 percent greater than the control. 3) This extract showed a specific absorption at λ=290mμ of the ultraviolet spectrum. And its powder obtained with lyophilization contained about 57% organic substance and about 43% inorganic substance. 4) According to the results of the measurement of the amino acid composition, 18 kinds of amino acid were found in the sample, including basic, neutral and acidic amino acid.
