Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV) has emerged as an attractive and significant research topic in aeronautical academia in last decade because of its profound applications and complicated aerodyanmics. This paper reports a summary of review about the MAV development and its low Reynolds number wing aerodynamic characteristics (such as instability and evolutional behavior) and vehicle design considerations made in past years in our lab. The most recent progress on optimization of single-winged and cascade-winged MAV design and flight tests is also discussed.
