In this article I collect passages of the Christian canonical and apocryphal gospels in order to compare them with those of Buddhist literature. The passages of both sides are sometimes so similar that it seems certain that the borrowing-lending relation exists between them. It is difficult however to decide which side is the borrower and which the lender. It is difficult also to decide which side is antecedent to the other with regard to the date of compilation of the passages in question. If borrowing really existed on the part of Christianity, its effect on it is of two kinds. In the case of the canonical gospels, the effect is superficial: it is only a question of borrowing some parabolic ideas from Buddhsim; the fundamental doctrine was not affected. In the case of apocryphal gospels, on the other hand, the effect is profound: the gospels disdain the god(Yahweh) as well as his creation and show an inclination to asceticism.
