Though many individuals of Amphipyra moths assembled for aestivation at the same site during summer-autumn, the female mating frequency was usually once at the latter half of aestivating period. Two to four spermatophores were, however, observed in the females of A. pyramidea and A. monolitha. The size of spermatophore had no relation to the mating frequency.
