Two surgical-orthodontic class III cases were performed by the multiple segmental osteotomy (MSO) technique, defined as a procedure which divides the maxillary or mandibular arches into three or more segments and moves them in three-dimensional space using any combination of minor and major orthognathic surgery during one operation. Although some complications may occur, several advantages of the multiple segmental osteotomy technique exist : (1) simplification of orthodontic mechanics ; (2) shortening of overall treatment time ; and (3) reduction of the incidences of root resorption and occlusal relapse.
