Large-scale open-cut excavation works, which measure the excavation area of 14 400 m^2 and depth of about 11 m, were conducted for the construction of two-story under-ground parking facilities at Sun Port Takamatsu district in Kagawa Prefecture. This area is located in the reclaimed ground for old Takamatsu sea port, where the ground water level is high and the soil profile consists of reclaimed soil layers with the SPT-N value of about 3,underlain by alluvial loose sand layers. Within this area, the remains of an old caisson quay wall and an old stone quay wall exist-ed. Because of the uncertainty of soil conditions, the excavation works face a problem in the adjustment between the construction procedure and the consideration in the de-sign. Two time periods were set up for the project. In the first period, the north part of the area was excavated, in which the design parameters for excavation and support were checked, and the back analysis was carried out based on the field measurement, in order to maintain safety during the subsequent construction works. In the second period, the south part of the area was excavated according to the result of analysis from the first period. This paper shows the observational procedure for excavation and sup-port with ground anchors conducted during this construction project. As a result, Ground anchor behaved strongly as much as 10-50 times in reality compare with the value assumed in the design, due to the pressing pressure added in the anchor.
