Structure and Superconducting Properties of TlCa_<n-1>Ba_2Cu_nO_<2n+3> Thin Films with Zero Resistance at Temperatures above 100 K : Electrical Properties Condensed Matter

New superconducting TlCa_<n-1>Ba_2Cu_nO_<2n+3> thin films have been analyzed by the X-ray diffraction and four-point probe techniques. The films consist mainly of a single TlCa_2Ba_2Cu_3O_9 phase or a mixture of the TlCa_2Ba_2O_9and TlCaBa_2Cu_2O_7 phases with the c-axis preferentially oriented perpenducular to the film surface. The TlCa_2Ba_2Cu_3O_9 film grown on an asymmetrically cut yttrium-stabilized ZrO_2(YSZ) substrate has the highest superconducting transition with on-set T_c near 120 K and zero resistance at 116 K. The TlCa_2Ba_2Cu_3O_9 film deposited on a SrTiO_3(100) substrate has a slightly lower transition with zero resistance at 104 K probably because of stacking faults. The film composed of both the TlCa_2Ba_2Cu_3O_9 and TlCaBa_2Cu_2O_7 phases and grown on YSZ has a double transition with on-set T_c near 118 K and 107 K, and zero resistance at 102 K.
