PbTiO3 films were grown on SrTi03 substrates using the liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) method. Single-crystal films with (001) orientation were successfully grown at 410℃, which is lower than the Curie temperature (T_c). The full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the Xray rocking curve for the (001) plane was determined to be 0.62 degrees. This result indicates that the grown film has good crystallinity. The lattice spacing of the (001) plane (c-axis) was 4.121 Å, which is smaller is smaller than that of bulk crystal. Thus, it is considered that tensile stress is applied parallel to the film/substrate interface. The interface was examined using a transmission electron microscope (TEM). It is found that there are 90° domains, which extend from the interface to the film surface. The film/substrate interface is well defined, although some dislocations can be seen. Electron diffraction patterns showed that the films were formed epitaxially.
