• Large-capacity, high-speed removable memory can provide portability of information and working environment. The ISO/IEC committee has started work on establishing enlarged-capacity standards for magneto-optical disks and phase-change disks. Both have direct overwriting function. This paper explains present technological status and future standardization plans.
