The pinning effect of a ferromagnetic substance on superconducting fluxoids has been investigated. Two kinds of ferromagnetics (mu-metal and γ-hematite (the sound tape) were shaped in thin narrow bands (〜45 μm, t.×0.3 mm, w) and overlayed on the top surface of a niobium disc (2 mm, dia.×0.5 mm, t). A magneto-optical observation was carried out on the sample surface at 4.7 K with an external magnetic field of 0 to 1 kOe; it was demonstrated that the propagation of the flux density distributions from the sample edge was evidently depressed upon crossing the mu-metal band, but hardly effected by the hematite. The estimated pinning force at 2×10^<-1> dyne/cm of the mu-metal band can be accounted for by the measured magnetization of the band.
