The magnetic properties of as-deposited and annealed Fe-B, Co-B and Fe-Co-B alloy films on copper, mica, glass and NaCl single crystals were examined by a vibrating sample magnetometer. The magnetic easy direction was found to be in the plane of the films. The coercivity and magnetization of the (Fe_xCo_<1-x>)_2B films have maximum values when x is approximately equal to 0.5. The increases in intrinsic coercivity and saturation magnetization of the amorphous magnetic films are due to the growth of microcrystals, which depends on annealing temperature. The maximum coercivity of the annealed (Fe_<0.6>Co_<0.4>)_2B film was found to be 170 Oe around 670 K; for Fe_2B film, the maximum coercivity was 180 Oe around 560 K. The saturation magnetization parallel to the plane of the films slowly increased with increasing annealing temperature. A value of 180 emu/g of the saturation magnetization parallel to the film was obtained for an Fe_2B film annealed at 773 K for two hours.
