Additive-pulse mode-locking (APM) using a nonlinear external cavity was performed with a cw Nd:YLF laser at a wave-length of 1.053μm. The APM pulsewidth of 4.5 ps at a repitition rate of 100 MHz has been obtained. This APM pulse was compressed using a fiber-grating pair for various grating separations. For optimum grating separation, we obtained a pulse as short as 210 fs.
