Photo-conductive traveling-wave photodetectors (TWPDs) in which Coplanar Strip (CPS) transmission lines are adopted as electrodes are suggested, fabricated on semi-insulating GaAs substrate, and characterized in frequency domain. Symmetrical and asymmetrical CPS types of electrodes are used and compared for photodetection performance. High bandwidth of about 6.5-7.8 GHz and cut-off frequencies of about 11.0-15.2 GHz are obtained.
