Superconductivity of new compounds with the T_c at about 40 K in the Tl-Ln-Sr-Cu-O (Ln=Pr and Nd) and the Tl-Pb-Ln-Sr-Cu-O (Ln=Pr, Nd and Sm) systems has been revealed through the temperature dependence of the resistivity and ac susceptibility. Introduction of PbO into the Tl-Ln-Sr-Cu-O system is found to stabilize the superconducting phase. The structure of the material in the Tl-Pb-Ln-Sr-Cu-O system can be regarded as tetragonal, and the composition may be described as (Tl, Pb)(Ln, Sr)_2CuO_x with the Ln/Sr molar ratio of 0.5.
