Superconducting YBa_2Cu_3O_y thin films have been deposited successfully on ceramic substrates using a custom-built multimagnetron sputtering system. A niobium layer acts as the barrier layer that greatly enhances the superconducting properties. Measurements of the test results indicate an onset temperature of about 100 K, and a critical temperature T_c of 91.5 K.
