In organic electroluminescent (EL) devices, the barrier layer performs the role of controlling the electron-hole recombination range. Organic EL devices have been fabricated with single 8-hydroxyquinoline Zinc (Znq2) layer and double layers for the Znq2 layer deposited on poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) Langmuir-Blodgett films as a barrier layer, respectively. The organic layers were sandwiched between indium/tin oxide (ITO) and aluminum electrodes in EL organic devices. The experimental results suggest that the LB films perform an important role in enhancing the Znq2 EL efficiency.
