Effects of γ-ray irradiation on Bi_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_y and Bi_<2-x>Pb_xSr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_y (x=0.1 and 0.2) superconductors have been studied using a ^<60>Co γ-ray source up to a maximum dose level of 300 Mrads. On irradiation of the undoped variety, a small decrease in its T_c value is observed up to a certain dose level after which it has no effect on T_c. In the case of lead-doped samples with x=0.1 the irradiation effect is more pronounced (T_c decreases from 94 K to 84 K) than where doping of lead is higher, i.e., x=0.2 (T_c decreases from 96 K to 90 K), at a 100 Mrad dose level. The experimental results corroborate the X-ray powder diffraction data.
