The initial Magnetization curves in low-magnetic field were measured for sintered polycrystalline samples of YBa_2Cu_3O_y and Bi_<1.84>Pb_<0.34>Sr_<1.91>Ca_<2.03>Cu_<3.05>O_y. These measurements reveal that transport critical current density (J_<ct>) is determined by the coupling strength of grain boundaries against penetration of the magnetic flux. This analysis provides a useful method of estimating the J_<ct> values for sintered oxide superconductors.
