Electronic speckle pattern correlation is applied to two-dimensional measurement of in-plane displacement and strain distributions. Speckle displacement distribution is determined by the peak of the 2-D cross-correlation of each block of images before and after surface deformation. From the distribution, we can derive the biaxial strain distributions with the sensitivity of millistrains.
