The Compton and AgKα_2 Component (λ=0.56380 Å) in amorphous scattering have been eliminated by the method of fluorescence excitation of Ru. Radiation scattered from a sample falls on a sheet of Ru (λ(K edge)=0.56051 Å). The fluorescence radiation, received in an Na-I scintillation counter placed near the Ru, is a close measure of the elastic scattering of AgKα_1 radiation (2=0.55941 Å) because most of the inelastic scattering and AgKα_2 radiation is incapable of exciting fluorescence.
