Some Peculiarities of Angular Selective Reflection of Cholesteric Liquid Crystals in an Electric Field

We report the peculiarity of selective reflection from a planar cholesteric liquid crystal layer under the action of a small electric field. Application of a small electric field leads to a reversible transition from monodomain to multidomain textures that have a different angular distribution of reflected light. The mechanism of such transition is discussed.
