We have found that hydrogen is introduced into aluminum by mechanical abrasion. In the present work, in the first step of elucidating the mechanism, the evolutionary behavior of hydrogen is studied by thermal evolution spectroscopy. The results show that the source of the hydrogen is water in the environment, the hydrogen is introduced deep inside the sample and the amount is about two orders of magnitude larger than the solubility limit of hydrogen in aluminum at atmospheric pressure near the melting point. As the introduction process, the fast diffusion of hydrogen is suggested and the mechanism is discussed. These features indicate promise as a hydrogen introduction method for metal with low hydrogen solubility at low temperature.
