It is confirmed that the relaxation method which was used by LaBonte to calculate the equilibrium magnetization structure iteratively can be accelerated significantly by introducing overrelaxation. The results of two-dimensional calculations made for thin Permalloy films of fixed sizes show that, unlike in the original method, the number of iterations necessary for convergence becomes almost independent of the number of divisions under the optimum conditions for overrelaxation. The result of the calculation made for a cross-tie wall shows that the simulation program based on the impoved LaBonte's method is three times as fast as the program developed previously based on the implicit solution of the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. The principle of calculation which was guided on the analogy with the S.O.R. method is presented together with the calculation results.
